(Based on M.D.(Hom.) amendment regulations 2001, issued by CCH)
The course shall be of three years duration including one year of house job during which the candidate shall be a resident in the campus. a. Candidates shall pursue a regular course of study and research in the respective departments of a Homeopathic College under the guidance the of a guide recognized by the University, emphasis being on practical training, participation in Seminars, Group discussions, Clinical meetings, Journal Clubs etc. The candidate shall be a resident in the Hospital campus and shall be given graded responsibility in the management and treatment of patients entrusted to his care. He shall participate in teaching and training of under graduate students or internees. b. Candidates are required to write a Thesis or dissertation not less than, 10,000 words (Ten thousand) with detailed commentary on a topic approved by the University which should provide the candidate with necessary background of training in research methods and techniques along with the art of writing research papers and learning and making use of library. The course shall comprise of the following subjects: a) General Subjects: I) The Man in health ( Holistic concept ) II) The Man in disease ( Holistic concept). III) History of medicine, scientific methodology including research methodology and statistics b) Special Subject : Psychiatry
SYLLABUS FOR GENERAL SUBJECTS: (I) The man in Health (Holistic Concept) : Structural, functional and psychological organization of Man and his adaptation to the environment, in healthand includes an integrated study of Anatomy, Physiology, Bio-Chemistry, Biophysics, Psychology for practical application of the knowledge in clinical medicine. (II) The man in Disease (Holistic Concept) : Structural, functional and psychological organization of the Sick and his environment and includes the study of Pathology (Psychological, functional and structural deviations for the state of Health), a probe into the evolutionary phenomenon of disease, paying attention to the cause effect relationship (viz., the effects of extrinsic (micro-organism, parasites, viruses and other stimuli) and intrinsic (susceptibility based on miasms) factors along with their current interpretations and the abnormal expressions of the sick pervading his whole being); (III) History of Medicine, Scientific Methodology including Research Methodology and Statistics :
(a) History of Medicine-evolution with special emphasis on Hahnemann's contribution to Medicine in General. SYLLABUS FOR SPECIALTY SUBJECT: PSYCHIATRY (i) Applied Psychiatry (ii) Miasmatic Evaluation (iii) Practice of Homoeopathy in Psychiatry Note : A thorough knowledge of deeper understanding in the recent advances made and discernible in the subjects, keeping in view the tenets of Homoeopathy, shall be required in the following topics, namely : (1) Dynamics and methods of case taking. (2) Diagnosis and differential diagnosis of diseases with various physical, clinical and laboratory findings. (3) Analysis and synthesis of cases with Hahnemannian evolutional totality. (4) Selection of medicine including repertorisation and comparative study of Materia medica. (5) Selection of Potency and dose. (6) Second prescription. (7) Remedy response and prognosis. (8) Management of the cases in general, therapeutic and accessory treatment in which case oriented method of study shall be adopted by integrating all disciplines.
EXAMINATIONS: i) The examination shall be conducted in two parts, namely: a) M.D(Hom.) Part I - which is to be held six months after completion of house job of one year duration. b) M.D(Hom.) Part II - which is to be held after one year and six months after Part-I examination. ii) Each Examination shall consist of written papers, Viva-voce and Practical/Clinical. iii) All the written / theory papers shall be of 3 hours duration.
