Nano Dynamization :: Quadric Potency

The word Potency is derived from 'Potentia' (L.) means 'Power in the sense of ability, capacity' . Potency denotes power which is derived by the grades of medicinal power as developed by the process of dynamization.

Potency = Dilution + Energy

Homœopathic potencies are the result of a series of successive reduction in the concentration of the basic medicinal substance, whereby each reduction in concentration is followed by vigorous agitation (dynamization). To quote Master Hahnemann, " The homœopathic system of medicine develops for its special use, to a hitherto unheard-of degree, the inner medicinal powers of the crude substances by means of a process peculiar to it and which has hitherto never been tried, whereby only they all become immeasurably and penetratingly efficacious and remedial, even those that in the crude state give no evidence of the slightest medicinal power on the human body.

This remarkable change in the qualities of natural bodies develops the latent, hitherto unperceived, as if slumbering hidden, dynamic ( § 11 ) powers which influence the life principle, change the well-being of animal life. This is effected by mechanical action upon their smallest particles by means of rubbing and shaking and through the addition of an indifferent substance, dry of fluid, are separated from each other. This process is called dynamizing, potentizing (development of medicinal power) and the products are dynamizations or potencies in different degrees " [ § 269 ].

Potency means power; medicinal virtues; liberated energies of the latent powers. Potencies are neither mere attenuation, nor dilutions. Potencies are preparations of drugs, according to the direction of Dr. Hahnemann - primarily in the Organon of Medicine, The Chronic Diseases, The Materia Medica Pura & other articles; and later, as per the guidelines of HPI. Master' s explanations, clarifications and directions, to potentize each substance, to be used as medicine, are unique.

Dr. Stuart Close says, " Homoeopathic potentisation is a mathematico-mechanical process for reduction, according to scale of crude, inert or poisonous medical substances to a state of physical solubility, physiological assimilability, therapeutic activity and harmlessness, for use as homoeopathic healing remedies " . Dr. G. H. G. Jahr clarifies as " By continual diluting and succussing remedies get neither stronger nor weaker, but their individual peculiarities become more and more developed " . The most reliable way to potentize a drug is to triturate it. It may be done either in decimal or in centesimal scale. Trituration is nothing but the reduction or sub-division of a drug. Two factors are necessary and go into the process of subdividing (triturating) the drug cum potentizing it. These are friction and addition of the vehicle.

Scientific Approach to Homœopathic Drug Potentization : -

Dr. Hahnemann believed that the substances which are medically inert in their crude form, rendered active & effective to 'heal the sick' by the process of trituration and succussion. During His life-time (1755 - 1843) and afterwards, it has been proved by many stalwarts.

The quantity of drug in homœopathic dose is very very small and of the order of 100 -30, 100 -100, 100 -200, 100 -10, 00,000 and so on; and cannot be measured by present-day scientific instruments and techniques. The homœopathic medicine is so minute quantitatively (nano-particle), its chemical interaction with the infecting paracitus is not possible - but it shows medicinal effects. On the basis of Avogadro' s number [ N = 6.023x10²³ ], the presence of material in the homœopathic medicine, beyond molar concentration 10 or 12 becomes negative. This seems to be impractical in laboratory, but it is in accordance with the concept of 'relative theory' . And we should remember that the Avogadro' s number is a hypothesis - not a law.

In homœopathy, crude drug substances are potentized by the process of trituration & succussion. The trituration of the medicinal substance results micro-emulsion solution of the medicine in the solvent (vehicle) and develops a definite charge. These charged particles of the micro-emulsion develop more and more micro-emulsion solution with the lesser charged density on further trituration or succession (dynamization); and so on.

The charge of the micro-emulsion particles is accelerated with the trituration - resulting the generation of electro-magnetic wave in the emulsion. Thus, in potentization process, due to absorption of the electro-magnetic waves, weightless isotopic molecules of the medicinal material are created. These isotopic molecules retain the medicinal properties of the original drug substance; and responsible for healing the sick.

The particles of the medicine, the medium (vehicle) are in motion; so, the relative expression for the medicine particles may be written as ----

In order to have non-zero momentum, we have a finite value for the above equation in limit m₀ ››› u; and this is only possible when, u ››› C (as m₀ ››› 0).

So, the massless particles must travel at the speed of light. These massless must possess momentum & energy - but no rest mass. In homœopathic potentized medicies, the medicinal particles have no mass, only energy. As the 'vital principle' is dynamic - so, it can only be deranged by some dynamic influence; and similarly, can only be rearranged by the 'energy force' .

QUADRIC POTENCY : - 

It was introduced by Dr. Kadiri Koya of Kannur, Kerala. This potencies are prepared on the 50-millisemal scale - using 6c, 12c, 30c, 200c etc., as the base - instead of 3c, as done by Dr. Hahnemann. The first quadric potency prepared from 30c is denoted as Q30/1, the second one Q30/2 and so on up to Q30/6. Potencies prepared 200c as base are denoted Q200/1 to Q200/6.

The effects of such potencies are thought to be more refined and fastidious. It also overcomes the problems of the medicinal aggravation (as seen with the Centesimal & Decimal potencies) and stagnation of the case (as occurs with the LM potency).

A single pill of no. 10 is generally used as one dose. In majority of the cases one dose in children and with increased frequency in adults. The mode of administration is same as administration of LM potency.

Preparation of Quadric Potency - 6c as base (Schematic) : -

Step 1 : Original drug substance 1 drop or 1 grain + 100 grain sugar of milk + 1 hour trituration = 1^st trituration. Drug Power (D.P.) is .

[1 grain = 0.0648 gram (approx); 1 drop Ξ 1 minim = 0.6 ml]

Step 2 : 1 grain of 1^st trituration + 100 grain sugar of milk + 1 hour trituration = 2^nd trituration.

D.P. is

In this way 6^th trituration is prepared from 5^th trituration; D.P. of 6^th trituration is

Step 3 : 1 grain of 6^th trituration + 500 drops of mixture (100 drops dispensing alcohol + 400 drops purified water) = Mother tincture of Quadric scale. D.P. is

Step 4 : 1 drop of mother tincture of quadric potency (6c) + 100 drops of absolute alcohol + 100 succussion = 1^st potency of Quadric scale (6c) or Q6/1. D.P. is ¹/_5x10¹⁶.

Similarly, D.P. of 30^th trituration is ¹/₁₀⁶⁰. So, D.P. of Q30/1 is ¹/_5x10⁶⁴ .

D.P. of 200^th trituration is ¹/₁₀⁴⁰⁰. So, D.P. of Q200/1 is ¹/_5x10⁴⁰⁴.

In this way, 1M, 10M, 50M etc. can also be used, as base, to prepare quadric potency. It is much higher dilution than LM scale; and it requires further verification and clinical study.
