What is health?

Being able to perform your duties, absence of disease? You sleep well, eat heartily, exercise without feeling tired, have no stress and you enjoy life to its fill. Does that mean you are healthy?

The answer is a mighty NO. A person can be without disease but that does not mean that he is healthy. Health is "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Well that surely is really hard to achieve but moving in the right direction will certainly benefit you.

When you are healthy you are happy. You do your job well, help others with their tasks you not only perform your duties but also serve the community and the nation.

These cannot be achieved when you are sick. Illness and sickness are generally used as synonyms for disease . However, they are used to refer specifically to the patient's personal experience of his or her disease.

The term Disease broadly refers to any abnormal condition that impairs normal function of the body. All the benefits of health are lost when you are diseased. You tire easily, you have to depend on others for your work, and you are not able to enjoy life as you did when you were healthy.

So while health is happiness, disease is a curse. Every person has been sick at least once in his life so understanding its consequences is not so difficult for us. So, why don't we try to remain healthy?

Achieving health and remaining healthy is an active process. It is not like stepping on the moon, it is going there and remaining which is the tough part. To remain healthy we should just correct our life style meaning thereby adopting some good habits and casting off the bad ones. It does not always happen in a day that you click your fingers and everything becomes fine. Health like success is the result of persistent effort.

You have to just adopt:

  • Healthy food
  • Healthy sleeping routine.
  • Good exercise and workouts.
  • Managing stress.
  • Above all, love life.

You will see that once you get into this life pattern you will steer your life to smoother roads.
