Happy New Year to all of you,

The year 2009 arrives with promises, the year 2008 passed by leaving behind its reminiscences. As the year arrives, it is good time for us to look back on our accomplishments last year and to implement the lessons we learnt last year for making a better tomorrow.

This is a time for making new resolutions, which will help us mould our future. Most of us would list the desire to be a good homeopath, as our foremost priorities. On a closer look this seems to be Herculean task, for there is no definite boundary of the word "good". In fact it is a relative term to bad; its characteristics differ from individual to individual. But what most of us would unanimously agree to is being a good homeopath stands for performing to the fullest extent our responsibilities of physician.

Last night I too was thinking over the changes I should inculcate in my habits to perform my duties better. I listed a few of those resolutions which I feel like sharing with all of you. They include:

  1. Regularly go through Materia medica. Howsoever busy a practitioner you may be you can still spare some moments to go through a medicine. You can even flip through the pages or go through the picture of drug your patient presents. But still for a homeopath, "A medicine a Day makes us confident.

  2. Go through Repertories. In the present scenario there are still some homeopaths who think that referring repertories is the work of meek, and the more confident ones should prescribe on characteristics or red-lines. But it is not so, totality of a case can only be practiced if we use repertories. Listing all the symptoms and then using their rubrics for Repertorisation not only opens to us the list of medicines but also removes our prejudices for medicines. So if we want to improve our practice we should make it our aim to go through the different repertories, their rubrics, and the medicines included under each one.

  3. Have updated information on Current Diseases, medical practices and even Homeopathy. This is one of the subject on which most of us cut a sorry figure. Having a nice degree and credentials is something different but if you cannot satisfy your patient's curiosity while on the seat everything is worthless. Its true that nosological diagnosis and pathological tests may not be essential for your prescription but they are necessary in gratifying your patient that his choice of physician was not wrong. So, go through the recent news on medicine and especially on homeopathy. Having knowledge about recent homeopathic laws, new medicines in the market will indeed help you a great deal.

  4. Popularise homeopathy. Talking to others about the benefits and success stories of homeopathy not only increases the popularity of the subject but also boosts up your confidence over the subject. Above all it makes you a renowned person in your locality about the subject and you will soon find people referring to you for consultations. Make it a point to educate as many people about homeopathy. This will also make homeopathy popular among the masses.

  5. Enjoy homeopathy. Accept homeopathy as merely not your profession but as something you enjoy. You can only put your 100% to the work you enjoy not to something thrust upon you as a duty. This includes analyzing medicine pictures, picking rubrics, and characteristics of people around you, in tv shows; it will be like going through a live material medica channel. Go through cross word puzzles, spot diagnosis on homeopathy; it would even increase your grip on the subject.

  6. Join Homeopathic communities and befriend new homeopaths. Discussing your problems (professional) with fellow homeopaths not only provides you different perspectives but also makes you aware about the present status and scenario of health and homeopathy. So, go ahead and make new friends in the New Year.

These were my ideas on New Year Resolutions. I would be happy if you would share with me your ideas on the subject. You can mail me your views on info@homeorizon.com.

The resolutions we make are for improvising ourselves, but they can overtax you if you make them stricter. As a result soon you will forget them or postpone them for next year. So, if you want to accomplish them, make your resolutions a fun. Don't make them so strict that it hurts, Enjoy them. It's when we put our heart and soul in a job we get the very best. For, SUCCESS IS PERSISTENCE.

With these new resolutions and good wishes we present to you the first issue of this New Year, The OUR REPERTORIES-II Issue. This issue was designed to be released in the month of December, but some slackness or rather fastidiousness on our part delayed it. We were attempting a near perfect issue with as much information as we could provide on the subject. We leave it to your prudence to assess our efforts.

Wishing you all the best for 2009. Aiming for a better tomorrow.
