Every year , lakhs of people die from Cancer. It is thought to develop due to a complex interplay of genetics and environment. It is very important to detect cancer before it spreads, as treatment is most effective when cancer is most effective when cancer is found early. It is hard to predict or explain why one person gets cancer and another does not. Therefore, it is important to get screened for cancers when you reach a certain age. A screening test is useful only when it leads to early treatment and decreases death from the disease. That is why only a few cancers should have to be established for early detection.

Causes of Cancer

Cancer has still remained cloaked in a shroud of mystery . People are suffering from the disease without any knowledge about it. Scientists, who have developed deep into the mystery of genes and the invincible computer too have not yet been able to decipher cancer. It is a sacred responsibility of science and scientists to resolve the mystery ; no layman has dared so far to write anything about it. The notice board is hanging blank for that red letter day. As the disease is spreading with time, so the panicky people are promptly gathering on two fronts. Much has already been written on the notice board as warning and everyday some more things are also being written.

On the first front, it is necessary to judge one's own feelings always and remain alert about anything akin to cancer symptoms happening to the body. On the second front, it is prudent to collect information about the reasons for cancer. There is hardly any such area like a thicket shrouded by darkness of fog from where cancer has not stretched its fangs.

Faulty treatment is another important cause of Cancer : The basis of cancer is wide metabolic defects. So, this defect is a step toward cancer along with other diseases. Some astonishingly dangerous results have come to surface since medical science started paying serious attention to the adverse effects of medicines prepared from drugs. It has become crystal clear now that human beings today are not as much harmed by the dangers of diseases as they are by the side-effects of drug-medicines. Creation of newer death hazards, making a disease more complex, weakening body limbs, creating cancer causes ultimately causing death may all result from this side effect. It has now been known that in a poor country like India , at least a full of the number of its cancer patients have been victims of unwise and unscientific use of antibiotic medicines.

Here are presented some information so that people can be cautious in this perspective :.

Breast Cancer : Clinical breast examination by a doctor should be incorporated into to a regular health check-up every three years starting at age 20 and yearly after age 40. Mammography has been found to be a useful tool in the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Yearly mammograms starting at age 50 have shown to decrease mortality by 20 per cent to 30 per cent. Screening starting at the age of 40 is controversial, but has shown some benefits. Magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ) should only be used to screen women at high risk for breast cancer ( family members with a history of breast and/ or ovarian cancer ). Screening women at regular risk for breast cancer with MRI is more expensive and not proven to be better than mammography.

Cancer of cervix and other female organs : It is now a known fact that female diseases cannot be eradicated with drug=medicines. Faulty treatment or over-treratment to mitigate female complications cause cancer of uterus, cervix and other female organs. Menstruation discharge is not blood flow. Though some -times we are compelled to take resort to treatment of blood flow because of menstrual problems, it is not the right thing to do. Besides, cancer is also being caused by use of artificial ingredients for fashion purposes.

Screening for cervical cancer should begin at age 21. The test is called a PAP smear and should done by a gynecologist. If by age 30 women have had three negative PAP smears, then the screening can spread out to every three years. The recommended age to stop screening is 70 years or women who have undergone a total hysterectomy ( removal of uterus and cervix ) . This screening test has resulted in many cancers being diagnosed early and is necessary for all women.

Homoeopathy offers a very effective solution in controlling and treating the mild-to-moderate cases of cervical. The amount of degenerative changes determines the time it would take for the case to respond to the medicine. Early stages of cervical respond very favourably and may take only a few weeks for the patient to become better. Moderate levels of changes can take a few weeks to a few months to show appreciable results.

Liver and Gall Bladder Cancer : Till some years back, liver cancer cases were scarce in India , if not rare. But today the number has gone up quite a few folds. There may be many reasons, but a predominant one is the indiscriminate use of strong drug-medicines to mitigate common pain, fever etc. In many a case operation is done to remove stone from gall bladder and through examination it is found that there is no cancer. But after some days or months many such patients are found to become liver cancer patients. It obviously appears that the poisonous drug medicines used during operation or healing up of the sore may have played a major role in causing the cancer.

Acute leucaemic or aplastic anaemia : Instances have come to notice of this fatal disease caused by strong drugs used for treatment of common fever or skin diseases.

Colon and rectal cancer : Men and women both can benefit from screening for this cancer. There are multiple tests that can be used , Starting at age 40, one can get either colonoscopy every 10-years, a sigmoidoscopy every five-years , fical occult blood test yearly or a double contrast barium enema every five years ( Discuss these tests with your doctor to see what fits you best.. The fecal occult blood test is the easiest test to perform and can be done at home. People should begin screening earlier if they have a family history of colorectal cancer ( Starting 10 years before the youngest family member developed colon or rectal cancer ).

Prostate cancer : Men should get yearly prostate specific examination ( PSA ), which is a blood test and digital rectal examinations yearly starting at age 50. Men whose first degree relatives ( fathers or brothers ) were diagnosed before age 65 should begin testing at age 45.. Screening can detect cancers, but it is still unknown if it leads to a significant reduction in death.

Lung Cancer : Due to the high incidence of lung cancer in smokers, multiple screening techniques have been tried . These include serial computed tomography ( CT ) scans or genetic analysis of sputum samples. However, to-date none of these interventions has succeeded. Several large studies are currently going on to try to answer this question. Use of drugs to cure TB without making any scientific examination of breathing problems is the most important cause of lung Cancer.

Tobacco No.1 accused : Experiences says tobacoo smoking, along with creating other health hazards, also causes cancer. These was a time when it was thought to be the only cause of cancer. For obvious reasons, control over smoking was demanded. In cities and towns people used to make processions with posters, “Keep off tobacco to keep off cancer”. Everybody, including children, used to be asked about habits of smoking, alcohol drinking or tobacco chewing and the quantity consumed before admission to a cancer ward. Another thing is that in a country like

India where tobacco is consumed in various ways mouth cancer is found to be dominant among men. In western countries , where smoking ( cigarette ) has been restricted, it not banned, lung-cancer has been brought under control.

Bone Cancer : Treatment of any injury should be announced complete only when thorough examinations and tests clearly report total removal of any adverse effect because of the injury. A small lapse on this point has been found to have caused cancer of bones. In fact, the deep effects of bone injury cannot be removed with allopathic medicines because these poisons can even create adverse problems for the normal body system. The indigenous systems and homoeopathy can cure bone injury. But where , on one side, indigenous treatment has not been given scientific acknowledgement, on the other human psychology is to spend as little time as possible for treatment . As for homoeopathy, the science is so on wide and difficult that availability of an expert and experienced homoeopath physician is few and far between.

Radiation : Radiation has been acknowledged as a proven cause of Cancer. If X-Ray is done several times on a particular spot, it may turn cancerous. Therefore, control is necessary on the use of radiation in both examination and treatment.

Degenerating Food : Chemical fertilizer, use of pesticides, keeping foodgrains with chemical cover and again using chemical preservatives during packaging for marketing (Fast food ), all these deprive food of its original value that Nature has given for human consumption. -The food, that once provided nutrition, now puts the process of metabolism into a conflict with chemicals. Such food is constantly increasing metabolic defects. Today the victims of these poisons are foodgrains, vegetables and in fact every edible item.

Though most of these guidelines were developed in Western countries, they are applicable to the Indian population. Screening tests are important as they can detect disease early in the people who otherwise feel fine. A Screening tests is not the diagnosis of cancer. It usually leads to other tests like a biopsy for diagnosis. Research is going on to identify screening tests for diseases like head and neck, lung and ovarian cancers. Nevertheless, until then quitting smoking, chewing tobacco and a healthy lifestyle are extremely important in keeping cancer away.

Study of the causes : Restraint and prohibition are no more within human control. In many areas solution is possible only through social consciousness and awakening. Human life-style is now governed by market forces and drug-dependent treatment has also taken the shape of an attractive commercial proposition. Therefore, we have to bide time for social awakening for bringing about control over diseases. To begin with, society itself has to be stable, peaceful and pure and then only the atmosphere will be clear for social consciousness.
