Hurried feeling: Fixed ideas

Sweat on uncovered Areas:

Condylomata: Warts


This plant is the so called "Water Ceder" of North America, also known as arbor vitae. It is not a true cedar but a conifer of a different species. Its evergreen foliage of flattened, imbricated type is rather similar to that of the cypresses, but its are quite distinct. These are of cylindrical shape with out curving scales. The tree it self is of a regular conoid or ovoid shape and the set of its branches is Jaunty, upright and cheerful. Both leaves and fruit give off an aromatic odour when crushed. The mother tincture is prepared from the fresh green twings.

Tissue Affinities:

For epithelial tissue, its irritant action leading to over activity of glan dular cells and hyper plasia of epithelium with the formation of warty or condylomatous growths. For the urinary tract, causing acute inflammation with yellow discharge, for the uterus, giving rise to contractions.

Physical Features:

Heavy trunk, short neck, thin limbs, small bones, sickly appearance with waxy greasy skin. Red face, showing a network of dilated capillaries. Dark hair, often in unusual sites, hair is dry, tending to split at tips, eyebrows lack any tail. Deep naso-labial folds, lips white as if covered with milk.

Stunted children with irregular teeth, which decay early, movements over active or hurried. Speech hesitating or rapid. Makes mistakes in reading and writing.

Duscolorations on dorsal aspect of hands and feet, nails grooved or fluted and brittle. Strange odours of fishbring, garlic or honey.


Feel dazed, confused, especially on waking in morning. Inattentive, preoccupied with persistent thoughts. Apathetic, desires to be left alone.

III - humoured, peevish, scrupulous and touchy over trifles. Extremely sensitive to people, also to music which causes tears.

Timid, nervous, jumpy, afaid on plain and of disease. Feels under the dominion of a superior power, develops fixed ideas "Soul is separated from body" - "Strange people standing by tahe bed" - Something alive moving about in the belly" - "body made of some brittle substance" - "legs are made of wood".

General Rections:

Chilly and shivers all over on exposure of body, even in warm air.

WORSE in damp cold weather from heat of bed, from sun and bright light, from tea-drinking, from motion, during menstrual period at night around 3am and 3pm.

BETTER in cold air by sweating, by stretching, by being rubbed.

Absence of appetite for breakfast, easy safiety preference for cold food, craves chocolate and salt, intolerence for onions.

Perspires profusely, but only on uncovered parts, of else perspires all over except on the head. Sweat is sweetish, strong-smelling, punget and stains linen yellow. Sleep distrubed by anxious, amorous, frightful dreams, dreams of the dead of levitation of falling. Tends to wake early about 4am and stay awake.

Particular Symptoms:

General: All symptoms tend to be excessive and to come insidiously. Frequent symptoms are emaciation, exhaustion, shooting, burning or darting pains, drawings in the blood vesseles, cracking in joints, jerking of the limbs.

The muscles feel "beaten", the body seems "light" when walking as if floating on air, or there is general stiffness and heaviness all over, associated with pulsations and flushesof heat, most evident in the evening. Pains are often in small apots and accompained by frequency of urination. Discharges are copious, often thin and greenish in colour and foul smelling. Complaints tend to be left sided.

HEAD: vertigo on closing eyes, which passes off when eyes are opened again. Dryscurfy scalp, eyebrows tend to be fall out.

Headache: especially in left frontal region, like a"nail being driven into tahe skull".

WORSE in morning on waking or at bed time.

BETTER pro tem by touch or massage and in open air.

Neuralgic headache with intense stabbing pain,

WORSE on attempting to sit up.

EYES: conjuncticits with profuse lachrymation. Shooting pains in eyes, dimness of vision and objects seem to "tremble", yellow flashes before eyes. Meibomaian cysta, warts on eye lids.

Ears: Aural polypo offensive otorrhoea. Ears feel numb before onset of epileptic fit.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM: Acute fluent coryza with much sneezing and hoarsess. Chronic nasal polyps.

Pain in left side of throat, WORSE on inspiring and on swallowing. Chronic tendency to asthma, when ARSENICUM ALBUM is the acute remedy.

Tightness, stitches, throbbing in left chest.

ALIMENTARY SYSTEM: Teeth extremely sensitive to contact with cold water. Tendency to pyorrhea alveolaris. Clean tongue, despite digestive disturbance.

Mouth feels "full of blisters", as if "burnt", heart burn, anorexia, foul rancid eructations "weight" in stomach after meals flatulence. Diarrhoea with copious, pale, greasy stools, expelled every morning after breakfast. Anal fissure, warts, condylomata, perianal moisture.


Urethritis, prostatitis, espically when associated with rheumatic pains.


Balanitis, warty growths which bleed readily. Profuse sweating on external genitalia. Menstrual periods either early, profuse, prolonged and oftensive or scanty. At first discharge is dark and sticky then flow stop with onset of anxiety and palpitation. Flow then starts again but is now greenish, brownish or white. If menstruation is delayed there is pain in the left breast. A lump may be felt in the breast which disappears after the period is over.

LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM: Pain and stiffness with "bruised feeling" in the nape of the neck, rheumatic pains, accompainied by numbness, WORSE warmth, before rain, after midnight, BETTER cold, by sweating when rain starts to come down.

Severe back pain, WORSE on extending limbs, BETTER when walking. Sciatic pain, BETTER in erect posture. Weary feeling in thigh muscles, jarking and trembling in limbs, left sided paresis, pain in feet and ankles.


Scaly patches of psoriatic type, plethora of pigmented moles and pendu culated warts. Vesicular eruptions, pustular eruptions, condylomata of "cauli-flower" type with fishy odour.

Prescribing Notes:

A deeply acting remedy and should not be repeated too frequently. May be of service at times in acute conditions should be considered when there is a history of shingles, bad reaction following vaccination or repeated vaccinations which "did not take". Also if symptoms derive from excessive tea-drinking, coccal infections, serum treatment, snake bite.

Thuja occidentalis has been called the white cedar or tree of life (arbor vitae). It is native to North America and fresh green twigs were first used in homeopathy by Hahnemann.


Thuja occidentalis helps people who feel depressed and lack confidence. Sometimes they have strange fixed ideas about their bodies, believing them to be made of glass and breakable or that there is some thing live inside them often there is history of neglect or abuse in childhood. Their greatest wish is to be acceptable and accepted. However many people who do not experience these feelings can be helped by thuja occidentalis.


ASTHMA: That is worse in damp weather.

Headache: When the weather is cold and/or damp around 3am and 3pm.

You feel better: after sweating, following a massage.

Food: A desire for sweets may crave or have an aversion to onions, garlic or tea. Onions may be upsetting. Fears of not being liked. Sleep prefer the leftside and may dream of falling may wake around 3to 4am.

Warts: these small sometimes hard non-malignant growths occur on the skin, mostly on the hands and fingers and are caused by a virus. Great care must be taken with hygiene as warts are contagious.

Thuja occidentalis most frequently used treatment it can be taken internally or applied as a cream or mother tincture.
