HEADACHE (ACUTE)

POINTS AMYL NITRATE BELLADONNA BRYONIA GELSEMIUM SANGUINARIA CAN. SPIGELIA
1) AETIOLOGY (a) Climaxis (a) Drafts of cold air à to head (head being uncovered.
(b) Having hair cut.
(a) Warm weather after cold days (Spring à Summer).
(b) Days are hot, nights are cold (Autumn / Fall weather).
(c) Cold & Chilled drinks in hot weather (suppressed perspiration).
(d) Sun heat.
(e) Anger.
(f) From ironing.
(g) From constipation.
(a) Sun.
(b) Heat of Summer.
(c) Depressing emotions.
(d) Thunderstorm.
(a) Climacteric.
(b) After loozing (every seventh day).
(a) Cold, damp, rainy weather.
(b) Tobacco.
2) SENSATION (a) Surging of blood to head & face: very intense.
(b) Congestive+++ headache at climacteric.
(a) Throbbing+++ (more right sided)
(b) Violent.
Stitching pain in chest. (a) Beginning in the back of neck à extend over head à bursting sensation in forehead & eyeballs.
(b) Sensation of a band around the head, above the eyes.
(c) Scalp sore to touch.
(a) Bursting.
(b) Eyes should be pressed out.
(a) Intolerable pressive pain in eye balls à can not turn the eyes without turning the whole body.
(b) Sensation: as if eyes were too large for the orbitis.
(c) As of a band around head.
3) CHARACTER (a) Flushing .
(b) Blushing.
(c) Throbbing+++ à bursting in head, ears.
(d) Visible pulsating throbbing in temples. (e) Arterial hyperaemia.
(a) Dark room with doors & windows closed: suits the patient.
(b) Comes suddenly à lasts indefinitely à goes suddenly.
(c) Headache with red face, throbbing of carotids.
(d) Generally right sided.
(a) Right sided bursting, stitching headache.
(b) Headache à on rising à when first opening the eyes à gradually increasing until evening.
(a) 3D & H : Dull, Dizzy, Drowsy & Heavy feeling.
(b) Headache preceded by blindness.
(c) Lack of muscular co-ordination.
(d) Heaviness of eye lids.
(a) Periodic.
(b) Headache begins in morning à increases during day à lasts until evening à with vomiting any time.
(c) Right sided.
(d) Begins in occiput à spreads over the head à settles over right eye.
(e) Neuralgia of face > by kneeling & pressing the head firmly against floor.
(a) Headache at sunrise à at its height; at noon à declines till sunset.
(b) Sensitive to touch.
(c) Slicking or stabbing pain through eye balls à back into the head.
(d) Left sided.
4) MODALITIES (a) Aggravation: < Warm room. < least excitement. (physical and/or mental).
(b) Ameliorations: > Open air.
(a) Aggravation : < light, < noise. < out of perpendicular posture. << least jar, motion, lying down, exertion..
(b) Ameliorations: > > pressure, > tight bandaging > during menses > easy chair position.
(a) Aggravation: < when stooping, < motion, exertion, < warmth, < coughing.
(b) Ameliorations: > from pressure, cold washing. > Rest.
(a) Aggravation: < from mental exertion, < from smoking, from smoking, heat of sun, lying with head low, < motion light. < 10 a.m.. < Fog.
(b) Ameliorations: > by profuse urination. > from stimulants, > from lying down. > cold open air.
(a) Aggravation: < from motion, noise, light headache; < by day (sun rise to sun set).
(b) Ameliorations: > by sleep, > Dark room. > by vomiting. > walking in open air.
(a) Aggravation: < from false step; < after rising; < every jar, step, even straining at stool: < least noise, motion.
(b) Ameliorations: > when lying with head high. > washing head and cold water > Rest. > warmth.

6) PRESCRIBING POINTS Sensation : Congestive +++. Character : Throbbing+++. Visible pulsation. Modalities :
(a) Aggravation:- < warm room. < least excitement (physical and/or mental)
(b) Amelioration:- > Open air.
Aetiology : Head being uncovered. Having hair cut. Sensation : Throbbing +++. Character : Dark room with doors and windows closed. Red face, throbbing of carotids. Generally right sided. Modalities :
(a) Aggravation:- < light, < noise;< cold
(b) Amelioration:- > during menses, > easy chair position.
Aetiology : Chilled drainks in hot weather. Sun heat. From ironing. Sensation : Stitching pain. Character : Right sided bursting stitching headache. Modalities :
(a) Aggravation:- < motion, < warmth.
(b) Amelioration:- > from pressure, cold washing. > Rest.
Aetiology : Sun. Sensation : Bursting sensation in forehead and eyeballs. Character : 3D & H. Lack of muscular co-ordination. Modalities :
(a) Aggravation:- Heat of sun.
(b) Amelioration:- > by profuse urination.
Aetiology : Every seventh day. Sensation : Bursting. Character : Periodic. With vomiting. Right sided. Neuralgia of face. Modalities :
(a) Aggravation:- < by day (sun rise to sun set).
(b) Amelioration:- > dark room: > by vomting.
Aetiology : Tobacco. Sensation : Pressive pain. Character : Its height at noon à declines till sun set. Left sided. Modalities :
(a) Aggravation:- < every jar, step, even straining at stool.
(b) Amelioration:- > when lying with head high.
7) POTENCY 1x liquid (1 drop in ¼ th cup of luke warm water à 6-8 hourly à SOS as and when required à for emergency headache à stop soon improvement ensues. 30C 12C, 30C 200C 200C 1M (especially if neuralgic symptoms are associated)
