Dr.William.A.Allen prepared his Repertory to the symptoms of intermittent fever mainly for two reasons:
1] He had many cases under his professional care.
2] Many physicians and laymen asserted that Homoeopathic treatment is totally unable to suppress the paroxysm, to remove the pathological conditions and symptoms incident to them — to cure.
Dr.Allen says that absolutely certainly these things can be cured without any exception and that to succeed, it is only necessary to administer a remedy of proper potency selected in accordance with the law of similia, having in its choice a regard for the totality of symptoms.
Dr. T.F.Allen writes that Allens Repertory is exceedingly valuable. It should be printed in pocket form, I should use it constantly. He further says that Dr.Allen has a large experience in the treatment of intermittent. And his own observations are entitled to great respect.
While compiling this repertory Dr. Allen has referred the following books — The Homoeopathic therapeutics of intermittent fever, by Dr. H.C.Allen, Lippes Repertory, Boenninghausen’s Therapeutics, Gross on comparative Materia Medica. To these he had added such symptoms as have come to his notice in the treatment of these cases.

Number of remedies 133

Regarding the potency to be used he says that he has used from Q to hundred-thousandths potency but he recommends that remedies may be used two hundred upwards.
The best time to begin to administer the remedy is after the height of the paroxysm has been passed. This is particularly true of Nat.m.
Regarding the repetition he says — there is no doubt about efficacy of single dose, which he has used in number of cases but I some cases he has continued the medicine for several days after the paroxysm has ceased.
