Come November, with winter snows, with harvest festivals and New Year’s vows. November has always been remembered as a month with receeding sunlight, fallen leaves, no blowers, no butterflies but the heartening fact about this month is that it  heralds the arrival of Winter season and brings with it the promises of Halloween, Thanksgiving and oh the not so far Christmas!!. It also reminds us to remember God and thank him for all that we have. For November brings with it the Thanksgiving Day- a time to gather with family and friends and give thanks to the Lord for the many blessings enjoyed by us.

In the homeopathic world November announces the birth anniversary of some of our great masters like Dr. John Henry Clarke and Dr. E. B. Nash. So we take this opportunity to thank one of our pioneers, Dr. J.H. Clarke in this Thanksgiving issue, “Dr. John Henry Clarke: a Tribute”.

Dr. John Henry Clarke (1853-1931) was one of the most successful and highly influential London homeopath in the 1870s. He took his M. -B., C. M. at Edinburgh University in 1875 as gold medalist in several subjects followed by M. D. and further academic successes and appointments in 1877.

His work in the homoeopathic field commenced almost immediately and he was known for his successful clinical practice.

He became a keen follower of Dr. Compton Burnett and in April, 1885 when Dr. Burnett edited his last number of The Homoeopathic World Dr. Clarke followed him by commencing as Editor from the next month.

It was by some ill luck that he 'fell out' with figures like Hughes and Dudgeon and as such his ‘role’ in Homeopathy was limited only to the editorship of The Homeopathic World, which he retained to the end. Dr. Clarke was known as an ardent writer and it is even said that he had a desk in his carriage

He authored many books including the Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica and Clinical repertory to the dictionary of Materia Medica (i.e., the Clinical Repertory). His other works include Catarrh, colds and grippe, Cholera, diarrhea and Dysentery, Constitutional medicine, Decachords, Dictionary of Practical MM, (3 volumes), Diseases of the heart and arteries, Grand characteristics of Materia Medica, Gunpowder as a war remedy, Haemorroids and Habitual constipation, Homeopathy explained, Indigestion : its causes and cure, Non surgical treatment of diseases of glands, Organon of medecine, Radium as an internal remedy, Revolution in homeopathy, The cure of tumours, Therapeutics of cancer and Whooping cough.

But as is the dictum of Nature, Dr. Clarke died on November 24, 1931. Following his death F. WOODS published in The Homoeopathic World, January 1932 that, “Clarke is not dead.

How can a man whose work is, and always will be, a continual source of inspiration to thousands-how can such a man ever die ?”

And that is indeed true for here he lives in the hearts and mind of every homeopath. Through this Issue we pay our tribute to this noble soul.

Extending the spirit of Thanksgiving we thank all our pioneers who have helped Homeopathy reach its present status. Further as part of the present Homeopathic fraternity we would not forget to thank all our fellow homeopaths, teachers, practitioners, students and even the patients who remain our guiding force for all they have done and are doing for the betterment of Homeopathy.

And as part of of Homeorizon family we would like to thank all our team members, guest authors, our dear readers and all the homeopaths from around the globe who have shared with us, contributed to us and stood by us all through the year; all those who have shared with us the dream of expanding horizons of homeopathy and strived hard to attain it- we take the privilege of thanking you alll.

We thank you all for being with us! we these wishes we present to you the present issue.

Happy Reading
