Quite often in our clinical practice we come along such cases which we think or rather analyze as a case of particular remedy; quite often a polychrest remedy and we prescribe it to the patient. Resultant effect sometimes the patient is relieved partially that is some complaints feel better while some retain their status quo. It is only later that when we work out on the case or sometimes import knowledge from our colleagues or books that we realize that the case was of some lesser known or rather a lesser used remedy.
So much for our “Unprejudiced Observer” spirit.
Why do we ignore the utility of these lesser known drugs and opt for polychrests?
Is it because of our ignorance or our prejudiced practice or our lack of courage?
Whatsoever maybe the reason but on introspection most of us do accept that these rare and lesser known drugs should be used clinically and their clinical verification should be published.
Rare remedy is a remedy which we rarely use in our clinical practice that is to say that these remedies are used just a handful of times in our whole career. E.g. Pothos, Chromicum acidicum.
Now in comparison to the polycrest drugs which have been repeatedly proved, tested and verified these drugs have been often neglected. Let’s say they are kind of “Ignored drugs”.
So their rare use is not just because the patient rarely presents with their symptoms; it is because so often we mistake their indications with some polycrest drugs.
Dr. Hahnemann emphasized on the importance of being unprejudiced in homeopathy practice; but we the biased practitioners forget his teachings and so often commit mistakes in our clinical practice. The need today is to acknowledge the utility of these remedies and also research extensively, scientifically about the lesser known symptoms and uses of these remedies. Only then can we successfully cure patients and justify our oath to humanity.
Aude sapere was what our master said and practiced, so reminiscing his teachings dear friends we should move forward and also carry forward the great responsibility he passed on to us and which we proudly call today as Homeopathy.
With these words and thoughts Dear Homeopaths I present to you the April Issue of Ezine on LESSER KNOWN DRUGS. Hope you enjoy the articles, cases and presentations which we have compiled to share with you the importance of Rare and lesser Known Remedies in Homeopathy.
